  2. inavukic – Ina Vukic Ina has been a tireless volunteer on humanitarian aid and fundraising for victims of war in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially war orphans. From1991 to beginning of 1994 she contributed in lobbying for international recognition of Croatian independence and Croatia’s rights in defending its territory and people from military aggression by Serbian forces. For this dedicated voluntary work Ina was awarded two Medals of Honour by the first president of the Republic of Croatia in 1995 (Commemorative Medal of the Homeland War and Order of the Croatian Trefoil). She considers herself to be of “mixed” cultural heritage, which has contributed to her general love of music. Her mother, a New Englander by birth, was working down in the southeast Kentucky mountains with the Frontier Nursing Service when she met Lavinia’s father, a Kentucky native, who had just returned from WWII. Lavinia first learned to play guitar from her brothers when she was in grade school and dreamed of playing in coffee houses someday. A fine musician in her own right, and solo performer at folk festivals, she now resides with her husband and blues musician Rick Ross, and an unlikely collection of 4 “cats of personality” in the beautiful Cascade foothills in Sweet Home, Oregon.   18. Miriam Hurdle – California, USA – Miriam Hurdle grew up in Hong Kong where she went to college and worked for five years before coming to the United States. While in Hong Kong, she taught Chinese as a Second Language at Hong Kong Baptist University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong for three years. She was also the Director of the Children’s Department at the Asian Outreach where she published four Chinese Children’s books. Miriam Hurdle came to the United States for her graduate studies. Prof. of Art at Radford University with artwork in 32 states, six countries, and the art collection of actress, Morgan Fairchild. My paintings have been seen throughout the United States in national, international, and group shows. My best-selling print, "Reaching Out", was selected from over three million works of art on Fine Art America to be on the set of The Mindy Project and I appeared with my artwork on The Hour of Joy on FoxTV out of Roanoke on March 10th 2013. I live to paint and it is important to me to find homes for all of my creations. I have originals and prints in thirty-two states, Canada, Germany, Russia, England, Switzerland and Australia.   27. anjana – Awed by the beauty of nature and life and with the yearning to express it , I began to write. I was introduced into the world of letters by my grandfather, a great enthusiast of life and literature. He opened a wooden cupboard full of books to me, when I was an inquisitive seven years old and I was swooped into the world of magic woven through words, stories near and far. . I connect passionately to the little pleasures of life; travel, tea, balcony, nature, sports and music. Roger Federer and Tennis are my favourites followed by Football and for a long time - former English player Michael Owen. As the journey continues, I am still trying to figure out the purpose and I hope to find out more about myself through my own musings here.... and I would be more than happy if it spreads some joy and inspiration on the way!!
